Raytheon to Deliver AEHF SATCOM Systems for US Navy

Raytheon Company  has received several production orders from the U.S. Navy for next-generation Navy Multiband Terminal protected Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellite communication (SATCOM) terminals since the initial award for 22 systems in 2010. The additional production awards received since then total more than 100 systems and spares, valued at more than $145 million, and include NMT foreign military sales with terminals for Canada, the United Kingdom and The Netherlands.

Raytheon’s NMT system is a family of multibanded ship, submarine and shore communications terminals providing the Navy and international partners a powerful and reliable new capability in support of its net-centric architecture.

“NMT was built upon three tenets — reliability, maintainability and affordability — in order to make its advanced SATCOM capabilities available to all services and coalition partners,” said Scott Whatmough, vice president for Network Centric Systems’ Integrated Communication Systems. “Last year’s Milestone C decision and the subsequent production orders validate these tenets and NMT’s protected AEHF SATCOM capabilities. It further positions Raytheon as the industry leader in delivering this technology and sets the benchmark for future capabilities and programs.”

NMT is one of three successful AEHF SATCOM programs at Raytheon. The first production order of 22 systems in September 2010 followed a successful field test and “Milestone C Review,” marking the completion of a complex system development.
