Sri Lanka Navy Rescues Multi-Day Fishing Trawler

Sri Lanka Navy rendered prompt assistance to rescue a multi-day fishing trawler which had run on rock in the seas close to the Rocky Point off Trincomalee Harbour on 19th April 2012.

The trawler named “Senaka – 7” from Dewundara with 04 crew members onboard had met with the mishap around 1900 hrs whilst attempting to enter the harbour to unload its 3,000 kilo fish catch.

The owner had alerted the Eastern Naval Command of the incident requesting assistance for rescue. A naval rescue team comprising of damage control personnel and divers was sent to the location accordingly and the trawler was retrieved and towed to the Cod Bay for safety.
