Sri Lankan Navy Rescue Fishermen from Fishing Vessel

Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command rescued 03 fishermen from a fishing vessel (wallam) stuck on rocks near the Rocky Point in Trincomalee on the night of 23rd April 2012.

The accident was first observed and reported to the Command Operations Room by the naval personnel on duty at the Rocky Point and the Coral Cove. A naval rescue team was subsequently dispatched to the location for assistance. The crew was rescued in the night and brought ashore for safety. Assistance was also given to bring the fishing gear of the vessel ashore.
