Sri Lanka Navy Rescues Fishing Trawler

Sri Lanka Navy rescued a multi-day fishing trawler, which had been stranded in the Southern seas due to an engine failure. It was towed to Galle Fisheries Harbour on 26th July 2012 along with its crew.

The trawler named “Thisara 2” had left for fishing from Galle on the 17th with a crew of six fishermen onboard. The vessel had been drifting when it was detected by Sri Lanka Naval Vessel Jayasagara, approximately 46 nautical miles south-east of Dondra. The six-member crew was found to be in healthy condition and they expressed their gratitude to the Navy for the timely assistance rendered.
