Ability to work as a team to overcome adversity on the high seas was the focus of a motivational session for the Hawthorn AFL team during their visit to Anzac Class Frigate HMAS Parramatta last Sunday (26 August).

On a high after their gutsy come-from-behind win over arch rivals the Swans for the top of the ladder position, the players were equipped to handle big game pressure, both as individuals and a formidable tight-knit team, as they approach the business end of the season.

After the intense session in the Junior Sailors’ Cafe, the 30-man strong Hawks visiting party were given a tour of Parramatta. Those Hawthorn fans among the crew were delighted with the rare opportunity to personally meet the players.

In return for the motivational session, organised between the Hawk’s psychologist and the ship’s leadership team, the players presented a signed jersey to the ship.
