EU NAVFOR Force Commander Visits French Frigate

On 10 September EU NAVFOR Force Commander, Rear Admiral Enrico Credendino, visited French frigate La Fayette. La Fayette has been part of the European Union Counter Piracy force – Operation Atalanta off the Horn of Africa since 31 July 2012.

Rear Admiral Credendino and his European staff were welcomed onboard by the Captain Guillaume Merveilleux du Vignaux. The Force Commander and Captain Guillaume Merveilleux du Vignaux spoke about previous and the coming months activity at sea and then Admiral Credendino was given a tour of the ship, while his staff met the ship’s staff officers to discuss current and future operations.

La Fayette will shortly take up escort duties for a WFP (World Food Programme) ship, ensuring food aid gets safely to the Somali people. FS La Fayette will remain within EU NAVFOR’s counter-piracy Operation ATLANTA until the end of October.
