Sri Lanka Navy Brings Critically Iinjured Fishermen Ashore for Medical Treatment

Sri Lanka Navy’s Offshore Patrol Vessel, SLNS Jayasagara brought 2 fishermen ashore on 15th October 2012 for medical treatments after being rescued from deep south eastern sea of Sri Lanka. They had been rescued by two merchant vessels, MV Lusail and MV Edith Maersk, in the south-eastern deep seas of Sri Lanka.

MV Lusail had deviated from its own course in order to hand over the injured fisherman it had taken onboard. Timely action taken by the two merchant vessels had been commendable and it had saved the lives of the fishermen. The ships had handed over the rescued to SLNS Jayasagara to transfer them ashore for medical treatment.

Having provided onboard emergency medical treatment, SLNS Jayasagara brought the rescued fishermen to Galle Harbour and handed them over to Galle Harbour Police for onward action.
