NAVFAC Washington Assigns USD 214 Mln for New Medical Facilities

Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Washington awarded a $214 million contract to build an ambulatory care center and dental clinic at Joint Base Andrews Naval Air Facility Washington, Oct. 29.

The project will include a multistory ambulatory care center, dental clinic, emergent care clinic department, medical home, physical and occupational therapy women’s health facilities and space for other support services.

Work will be performed in Camp Springs, Md., and is expected to be completed by May 2016.

The new facility will replace the Malcolm Grow Medical Center (MGMC), the existing hospital at Joint Base Andrews. Constructed in 1958, the MGMC facility has exceeded its useful life.

The firm-fixed-price contract was awarded to Manhattan Hunt Joint Venture, based in Tulsa, Okla., for $214,801,112. The contract is incrementally funded with $148,371,366 allocated at time of award. A second increment of $66,429,746 will be funded in fiscal year 2014. The contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website, with seven proposals received.
