Royal Brunei Navy Welcomes Commander-In-Chief of Union Myanmar Navy


The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) is received a visit from Vice Admiral Thura Thet Swe, The Commander-In-Chief Republic of the Union Myanmar Navy. Upon arrival at Brunei International Airport, Vice Admiral and delegations were welcomed by First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Mohd Hanifah and Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy.

This visit is considered to be a milestone for the RBN as the Commander-In-Chief of the Republic of The Union Myanmar Navy made its first official visit to the country. This is further proof of the importance of diplomacy in contributing towards the development of regional ties.

Upon his arrival at the Royal Brunei Navy headquarters on 1 May 2013. Vice Admiral Thura Thet Swe was accorded with a Guard of Honour exhibited by personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy. After reviewing the Guard of Honour, the Vice Admiral proceeded to pay a courtesy call to First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Mohd Hanifah.

Vice Admiral Thura Thet Swe was accompanied by a host of top officials from the Republic of the Union Myanmar Navy including Commodore Nay Win, Commander of the Mawyawady Naval Regional Command Headquarters, Captain Kyaw Kyaw Oo, Naval Staff Office of the Commander-In-Chief and Commander TetLwinTun, Commanding Offier No.2 Fleet. Deputy Commander of RBN and RBN senior officers were also present during the call to the RBN Commander.

During the call, both sides exchanged views on the current development between both navies, discussing areas where naval cooperation can be bolstered and improved. The Vice Admiral also made courtesy calls to both Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the Deputy Minister of Defence and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

The Vice Admiral and his delegations were also given the opportunity to get to know Brunei more as visits to places of huge Cultural Significance to the Bruneian community such as Kampong Ayer, Mahkota Crystal, Royal Regalia and Darul Ifta were organized. Vice Admiral ThuraThet Swe and spouse, as well as his delegates will be in Brunei Darussalam for a three-day introductory visit.
