INHS Kalyani Completes 51 Years of Service

Indian Naval Hospital Ship Kalyani celebrated her 51st Anniversary on 17 May 2013 to mark the occasion, the hospital conducted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on ‘Patient Safety – The Need of the Hour’ at the Samudrika Naval auditorium.

The Chief Guest at the event, Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, PVSM, AVSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief delivered the Inaugural address and released a brochure with patient information and safety measures.  Eminent experts from the Armed Forces as well as leading Civilian Doctors interacted with the audience on a number of topics concerning Patient Safety. The Keynote Address focussing specifically on patient safety measures in the hospital setting was delivered by Surgeon Vice Admiral AC Anand, VSM, PHS, Director General Medical Services (Navy), who is an eminent Gastroenterologist.

INHS Kalyani was established as a small 60-bedded hospital in 1962 and, over the years, has expanded into a 316-bedded hospital with all specialties.  The hospital now provides comprehensive health care to entitled serving personnel of the Armed Forces and their dependants as well as caters to all medical needs of all ex-servicemen and their dependants of the larger geographical area.
