French Naval Ship Arrives at Port of Colombo

French Naval Ship “Jacques Cartier” arrived at the Port of Colombo on 22nd May 2013 on a goodwill visit. The ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on her arrival.

Ship’s Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Commander Amaury Moreau De Bellaing paid a courtesy call on Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe at the Western Naval Command Headquarters in Colombo. They held cordial discussions and exchanged mementos as a gesture of goodwill.

“Jacques Cartier” is a Landing Ship Tank with a displacement of 1,330 tons. It is 80 meters in length and has a complement of 56 naval personnel onboard. The ship’s crew will participate in a special programme organized by the Sri Lanka Navy during their stay in Sri Lanka. The visiting French ship will stay in Sri Lanka until 26th May.
