The team lead and primary author of the U.S. Navy’s 2007 Maritime Strategy “A Cooperative Strategy for 21st Century Seapower” (CS21) will speak at the Navy Warfare Development Command’s (NWDC) Speaker Series July 18, from 09:30 to 10:30 a.m. EDT, at NWDC’s headquarters on Naval Station Norfolk and over Defense Connect Online (DCO).
Retired Navy Cmdr. Bryan McGrath, will speak on “If We Can’t Afford the Navy We Need, What Kind of Navy Should We Have?”
NWDC’s Speaker Series is designed to stimulate provocative discussion and action to drive a culture of innovation in the Navy.
McGrath is currently the founding director of Delex Consulting, Studies and Analysis (CSA), a division of Delex Systems Incorporated, headquartered in Herndon, Virginia. Delex CSA is a niche consultancy, specializing in Defense and National Security issues, including strategy and strategic planning, executive communications, and strategic communications.
McGrath spent 21 years on active duty including a tour in command of USS Bulkeley (DDG 84), a guided-missile destroyer homeported in Norfolk, Va. He helped develop CS21 during his final active-duty tour.
McGrath earned a BA in History from the University of Virginia, and an MA in Political Science (Congressional Studies) from The Catholic University of America. He is a graduate of the Naval War College.
