Commander of Sri Lanka Navy Visits North Western Naval Command

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage visited the North Western Naval Command on 17th July 2013. He was received by Commander North Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral NKD Nanayakkara on arrival and accorded a Token Guard of Honour.

The Commander inspected the Naval Deployment at Udappuwa and reviewed the security arrangements in place at the strategic location on the North-western coast. Thereafter, he proceeded to SLNS Thambapanni and viewed the constructions carried out at the base to uplift its infrastructure and accommodation facilities.

At SLNS Vijaya, the Commander inspected the fleet units and reviewed the facilities made available for the fishing communities to engage in their livelihoods without resorting to destructive and harmful fishing practices. He also visited the Headquarters of the Navy’s Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) stationed at Kalpitiya. The Commander also took some time to inspect the Pier at the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant and reviewed the security arrangements at the facility.
