US Navy Academy Midshipmen Visit MWS, HMS Collingwood

A group of US Navy Academy Midshipmen recently paid a visit the Maritime Warfare School (MWS), HMS Collingwood, Fareham.

Accompanied by Lieutenant Jeremiah Chase, United States Navy, Seamanship and Navigation Instructor, the midshipmen came to the MWS having previously visited BRNC, they will also visit HMNB Portsmouth as part of their Royal Navy Acquaint training.

Accommodated in the Wardroom and hosted by Lieutenant Commander Terence Cross Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), the group of six visited the Maritime Composite Training System (MCTS), Close Range Training Simulator (CRTS) and the Royal Naval Leadership Academy (RNLA).

Following lunch in the Wardroom they departed for HMNB Portsmouth for further tours.

During their visit to the CRTS each of the midshipmen was given the opportunity to ‘have a go’ in the GPMG simulator, as the photographs show.

When asked about the visit to the MWS Lieutenant Jeremiah Chase said,

“We have had a fantastic time, really interesting and enjoyable.”
