INS Satavahana Hosts Passing Out Parade Ceremony of Submariners

A ceremonial Passing Out Parade was held on 02 Aug 13 at INS Satavahana, the premier Submarine Training Establishment of the Indian Navy, on the occasion of passing out of the 83rd Basic Submarine Course (Officers) and the 82nd Basic Submarine Course (Sailors).

Rear Admiral Soonil V Bhokare, NM, YSM, Flag Officer Submarines, reviewed the Parade and presented Awards.  A total of 30 officers and 174 sailors passed out and would be joining submarines on the East and West coasts for the remaining part of training to become fully qualified submariners.

Lieutenant Sundar Ram V was adjudged as the Best All Round Officer. Manit Kumar, Engineering Room Apprentice Fourth Class and SK Kushwaha, Mechanical Engineer Second Class were declared the Best Overall Senior and Junior Sailors respectively. The course was spread over 24 weeks wherein the trainees were imparted in-depth knowledge in submarines with comprehensive theoretical and practical sessions. Speaking on the occasion, Rear Admiral Bhokare congratulated the awardees and other trainees on their achievement and exhorted them to continue to master nuances of submarine operations and put to practice during the sea training phase, the theoretical knowledge gained at the Submarine School.
