GDEB Snags USS Providence Maintenance Gig

The U.S. Navy ‘s USS Providence (SSN 719) will be restored to full operational capacity by her builder, General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp., under a $25.6 million deal for the Los Angeles-class submarine’s fiscal year 2013 dry-docking continuous maintenance availability.

This scope of work encompasses required maintenance activities necessary to maintain full unrestricted operation of the submarine, as well as upgrades and modernization efforts required to ensure the submarine is operating at full technical capacity.

Under the contract, the work will take place in Groton, Conn., and is expected to be carried out by April 2014.
