VIDEO: Moving HMS Queen Elizabeth

UK’s biggest warship HMS Queen Elizabeth was recently moved out of dry dock to a neighbouring jetty where she will be completed over the next two years.

Below is a video of the float up and move of the vessel:

A small fleet of tugs was used to transport the ship from the dock where she was constructed at Rosyth.

The operation of moving the 65,000-tonne aircraft carrier took three hours to complete.

HMS Queen Elizabeth will now be outfitted and prepared for sea trials in 2016.

The vessel is the lead ship of the Queen Elizabeth-class of aircraft carrier, the largest warship ever built for the Royal Navy and capable of carrying up to forty aircraft. She was named by Queen Elizabeth II on 4 July 2014 and is scheduled to commission in early 2017, with initial operational capability from 2020.
