The U.S. 6th Fleet command and control ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) arrived in Constanta, Romania, for a scheduled port visit, Oct. 20.
Mount Whitney’s visit to Romania reaffirms to NATO allies that the U.S. Navy shares a commitment to strengthening ties while working toward mutual goals of promoting peace and stability in the Black Sea region.
Command Master Chief Matt Dickinson, USS Mount Whitney, said:
The crew of the Mount Whitney is very excited to have the opportunity to further strengthen the relationship with our Romanian NATO allies. It makes me proud to know that my Sailors are excited about their port-call in Romania, and I am excited to have the opportunity to get to share our two different cultures together.”
Mount Whitney’s visit to Romania will give the crew the opportunity to engage with their Romanian counterparts in more than just an operational capacity. Sailors will also build understanding and strengthen bonds between U.S. and Romanian servicemembers.
