New Commander aboard USS Stockdale

Authorities

Command of guided-missile destroyer USS Stockdale (DDG 106) passed from Cmdr. Bo Johns to Cmdr. Sean Grunwell during a traditional change of command ceremony at Naval Base San Diego, Oct. 30.

Johns leaves Stockdale after leading the ship through a 10-month deployment to the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility, two CNO-selected restricted availabilities, and two full training cycles.

Johns’ next assignment will be aboard aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) where he will serve as the ship’s reactor officer.

Grunwell fleeted up to command, having previously served as Stockdale’s executive officer for the past 18 months.
