NATO Members Tour USS Arlington

The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Arlington (LPD 24) welcomed two members of the U.S. House of Representatives as well as members of the NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) aboard the ship for a tour, Jan. 29.

U.S. Rep. Mike Turner, from Ohio and the President of the NATO PA, was joined by U.S. Rep. Paul Cook, from California and a member of the Armed Services Committee, along with other members of NATO PA as they learned about key naval programs and the operational capabilities of various fleet platforms to gain familiarity.

While aboard, the guests toured the well deck, bridge, combat and control center, medical, and the hangar bay, and at each stop were given the opportunity to ask questions regarding the role of amphibious operations in the world today.

Arlington is currently in port in Norfolk undergoing a continuous planned maintenance availability.
