Colombian Navy Finds 114 Kg of Cocaine Underwater

Authorities

The Colombian Navy, together with the Air Force and the National Police, located 114 kilograms of cocaine submerged and secured to the seabed.

After a several month-long research and surveillance operation by the National Police, the Navy divers were sent to find the drugs. A total of six packages were found in the general area of Quitasueño, more than 100 miles from the island of San Andres.

This was the first time a drug shipment was found hidden in this way, anchored seven meters underwater.

Authorities believe that the narcotics were to be transported aboard a speedboat to Central America, and later to America. The value of the packages is estimated at USD 3 million.
