Colombian Navy Seizes 120 Kg of Cocaine

Authorities

The Colombian Navy, in a joint operation with the Colombian Air Force, seized about 120 kilograms of cocaine yesterday, March 8.

The operation was conducted in the waters north of Isla de Providencia (Old Providence), Colombia, and resulted in the arrest of three individuals involved in the smuggling act. The smugglers were transporting the illicit cargo aboard a go-fast vessel when they were detected by an Air Force aircraft. The smugglers then ditched the packages and fled from the scene, but were later caught by the Navy’s vessels.

A total of six bundles of drugs were recovered from the water. The drugs, worth an estimated 3 million dollars, were submerged and tied to an anchor.

This discovery resembles a recent one which occurred in the general area of Quitasueño, more than 100 miles from the island of San Andres.
