FS Var Takes Care of Local Fishermen

Authorities

On the 17th of April, in the North of the Arabian Sea, the French Ship (FS) Var’s boarding team assigned to the Combined Maritime Forces’ (CMF) Combined Task Force 150 (CTF150) gave medical assistance to several regional seafarers.

While conducting a routine approach and assist visit to a fishing dhow the crew from the CTF 150 flagship noticed that several members of the crew did not look very well. They quickly reported the situation back to FS Var.

FS Var’s doctor was immediately called and boat transferred to the fishing dhow to examine the patients. Following a thorough examination the Doctor provided medical treatment and advice to the crew members. Just two days later the Doctor was once more called to bring medical emergency assistance to another dhow crew.

Medical assistance and Rescue at Sea are part of CTF 150 mission to promote security, stability and prosperity across the Gulf of Oman, the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.

While conducting operations under CMF, the ships and their helicopters are busy searching, identifying and approaching vessels where they regularly find themselves assisting mariners in distress and providing assistance in these extremely busy waterways.
