Marking Anzac Day in Brunei

For patrol boat crew Assail Two, embarked in HMAS Armidale, the conclusion of Exercise PENGUIN 2015 on 24 April did not mean the end of official duties. Instead, Assail Two had the honour of leading the Anzac Day dawn service on Muara Beach, Brunei.

The ceremony was held at the site where Australian forces landed in June 1945 as part of Operation OBOE SIX, which resulted in the successful liberation of North Borneo from Japanese occupation.

The service capped off a busy and worthwhile week for the crew.

Exercise PENGUIN is a bilateral exercise held biennially, intended to strengthen and enhance the mutual understanding and co-operation with the Royal Brunei Navy.
