CHENS is a forum of 25 Chiefs of Staff of European Navies (NATO and EU) which seeks to promote understanding between European navies and to examine issues of common and mutual interest, increasing regional awareness of the maritime domain.
Observers from the United States, NATO and the European Union also attended this year’s meeting chaired by Italy.
This year the main discussions focused on the requirements of Navies in this changing world, the partnerships between European and North-African Navies and the control of maritime borders in the Mediterranean Sea.
