HMAS Leeuwin to Carry Out Mapping Surveys in Fiji

Australian Navy’s hydrography vessel HMAS Leeuwin arrived in Suva, Fiji, on Friday to undertake surveys.

The vessel will stay in Fiji for a month and during that time it will work with the Fiji Navy to conduct ocean mapping surveys in Fiji territorial waters and training activities.

This is the vessel’s first visit to Fiji in eight years.

According to the Fiji Times Online, the first survey operation will be conducted in the vicinity of Rotuma, as proposed by the Fiji Hydrographic Office and the Maritime Affairs Coordinating Committee.

HMAS Leeuwin is scheduled to depart Fiji on August 19.
