Spanish Navy’s Training Ship Ends 86th Cruise

The Spanish Navy training ship ‘Juan Sebastián de Elcano’ concluded its 86th training cruise.

The vessel with a total of 76 midshipmen arrived for a port call in Marin recently, where the Naval Academy is located. The training ship took part in the festivities of the Navy’s Day (July 16th), which included the commissioning ceremony of new naval officers.

In the last six months, the ship sailed across the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans, transiting through the Strait of Magellan and Panama Canal. During the cruise, the ship sailed nearly 20,000 miles in 152 day’s run, two thirds of them just under sail.

The ‘Juan Sebastián de Elcano’ visited Ceuta and Las Palmas (Spain), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Montevideo (Uruguay), Punta Arenas and Valparaiso (Chile), Callao (Peru), Veracruz (Mexico), Pensacola and Boston (USA).
