Spanish Navy Helps Stop Vessel Carrying Drugs

Authorities

Spanish Navy’s offshore patrol vessel OPV Atalaya recently took part in an operation to seize a sailboat which was allegedly carrying drugs.

On August 7, the sailboat Silver Black was 1,000 miles southwest of the Azores when she was boarded by the Spanish National Police and 600 kilos of cocaine were found inside the boat.

The two crewmen were arrested and transferred to the OPV along with the drug haul.

The patrol vessel subsequently proceeded towards the port of Vigo where both, the arrested people and the drug, were handed over to the Police.
