The Continuing Promise (CP-15) team embarked aboard the Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) completed the tenth mission stop in Trujillo, Honduras, in support of CP-15 on Sept. 6.
The team began its tenth mission stop in the towns of Trujillo, Puerto Castilla, and Corocito on August 29 in support of the humanitarian-civil assistance mission.
CP-15 team members fostered partnerships in the communities of Trujillo, Corocito and Puerto Castilla during the stop. They worked alongside medical professionals with the Honduran Ministry of Health, Honduran military, government officials, and community leaders to care for more than 14,000 patients between two medical sites established at the Centro de Educacion Basica Dr. Jesus Aguilar Paz in Corocito and the Escuela Guia Tecnica N. 16 Naciones Unidas in Trujillo.
This collaboration contributed to the CP-15 team reaching a milestone of more than 107,000 patients treated during the mission and more than 1,130 surgeries performed aboard Comfort.
CP-15 will continue to the eleventh and final mission stop of the deployment in Port Au Prince, Haiti.
Since deploying in April, the ship has completed mission stops in Belize, Guatemala, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, El Salvador, Colombia, Dominica, the Dominican Republic and Honduras.
