HMS Trumpeter at Fundraising Festival in Chatham

Authorities

Royal Navy’s Patrol boat HMS Trumpeter will be alongside Thunderbolt Jetty for the Salute to the Forties Festival in Chatham this weekend (19th-20th September) and will be open to public.

The small P2000 boat will sail into Chatham later today, September 18, in support of the wartime revival weekend in the town’s historic dockyard.

Trumpeter is making the short trip from her base in Ipswich across the Thames Estuary and up the River Medway.

The September 19-20 festival is a fundraising event for Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust, which will see various air displays, including a flight by the ‘Spirit of Kent’ Spitfire with its D-Day markings, while WW2 destroyer HMS Cavalier will sound a midday salute with a broadside from her guns.

Trumpeter will depart Chatham on Sunday evening.
