Crew members from the Royal Navy’s Vanguard-Class submarine HMS Victorious have been presented with the Fleet Commander’s Commendation.

The HMNB Clyde-based ship’s company took part in a special Divisions ceremony recently which was attended by Rear Admiral Matt Parr, Commander Operations.

On behalf of Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Sir Philip Jones, he recognised the efforts of HMS Victorious’ Port Crew for the most outstanding contribution across defence over the preceding year.

Admiral Parr took the opportunity to thank the sailors and their families in person for their performance over a challenging period, featuring prolonged periods away from home.

Each Vanguard class submarine has two crews – Port and Starboard – one in charge of the boat and another supporting ashore.

As a result Victorious’ crew are a close-knit community which turned out in force on Divisions, after which a number of crew received awards for longstanding service.
