US Navy’s Orion, Romanian Navy Train Together

A U.S. Navy P-3C Orion from Patrol Squadron (VP) 9 arrived in Constanta, Romania Oct. 11 to participate in a three-day anti-submarine warfare exchange with the Romanian Navy.

U.S. and Romanian Sailors will discuss and practice ASW tactics, techniques, and procedures in in order to enhance interoperability and combined capability to ensure security, access and stability in Black Sea.

Capt. Bryan Durkee, Commodore, Commander, Task Force (CTF) 67, said:

Constantly improving and exercising our anti-submarine warfare capabilities with NATO allies such as Romania is a priority for our fleet and the Alliance. Dedicating our aircraft to train with allies in the Black Sea and other partners represents an enduring mission for 6th Fleet. Exchanges like this raise the professional knowledge of all involved and provide an opportunity to share tactical and practical innovation and normalize interoperability.
