LÉ Samuel Beckett Rescues 102 off Tripoli

Irish frigate LÉ Samuel Beckett took approximately 102 persons aboard during a rescue operation on Oct 15.

LÉ Samuel Beckett commenced the rescue operation shortly after being tasked by the Italian Marine Rescue Co-Ordination Centre (IMRCC) to investigate an inflatable craft located 50 kilometers northwest of Tripoli.

All people embarked are receiving food, water and medical attention where required.

On October 5 LÉ Samuel Beckett rescued 242 persons from a wooden craft 93 Kilometers North West of Tripoli and subsequently embarked a further 232 persons from another rescue vessel bringing them to the port of Vibo in Italy.
