USS Farragut Sails to US 6th Fleet AOO

The guided-missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG 99) entered the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations on October 13, 2015.

Transiting the Suez Canal signaled Farragut’s completion of a six-month deployment in U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.

While in 5th Fleet, Farragut conducted exercises with multiple partner and coalition nations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

The ship provided support for operations in Iraq and Syria, and maritime security operations, and theater security cooperation efforts as part of the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group (TRCSG).

Farragut’s return to 6th Fleet marks its conclusion of operations in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea, and Arabian Gulf.

Farragut is part of the TRCSG, which is composed of the staff of Carrier Strike Group 12, the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1, the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60), and the guided-missile destroyers USS Forrest Sherman (DDG 98) and USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81).
