Spanish AOR Cantabria joins NATO’s SNMG1

The auxiliary oiler and replenishment ship Cantabria set sail from Ferrol, Spain for a two-month deployment integrated into the Standing NATO Maritime Group One (SNMG-1) in North Sea waters.

During the deployment, the Cantabria (A-15) will be SNMG-1’s logistic support ship and will participate in several international exercises.

The A-15 has undergone a readiness period in her homeport. Before joining the SNMG-1 she will travel to Rota Naval Base to embark an air unit and a Marine Corps Security Team.

Under the command of Commander Santiago de Colsa, the Cantabria will provide logistic support to NATO’s Maritime Group and will participate in several multinational exercises. The A-15 will visit the ports of London, Amsterdam, Bergen and Trondheim.
