German Navy ships will be conducting missile firing tests at the Norwegian Andoya Test Center (ATC) in waters off Andenes, Norway.

F 124 frigate Sachsen, F123 frigate Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the K 130-class corvette Oldenburg will be taking part in the exercise set to be held between April 18 and 29.

Additionally, FGS Sachsen will embark two MK 88 Sea Lynx helicopters on board.

“With a surface of 4.000 square kilometers and equipped with modern telemetry and tracking systems, Andoya Test Center offers the perfect training platform,” the German Navy said.

The 143-meter FGS Sachsen is equipped with SM-2 Block IIIA missiles, Evolved Sea Sparrow missiles and Harpoon anti-ship missile launchers.

FGS Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, slightly smaller than FGS Sachsen at 138 meters, is armed with Exocet MM 38, Sea Sparrow and RAM (Rolling Airframe Missile) missiles.
