India has handed over 12 high-speed guard boats to Vietnam Border Guard at Hong Ha Shipyard in Vietnam, marking the completion of a successful defence project.
Indian Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh attended the ceremony on 9 June. The vessels were constructed under India’s Line of Credit (LoC) project for Vietnam. The value of the contract is $100 million.
The minister invited Vietnam to become a part of India’s defence industrial transformation through enhanced cooperation.
Under the Defence Line of Credit program, five boats were manufactured at L&T Shipyard in India and seven at the Hong Ha Shipyard in Vietnam.
The two countries also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to simplify procedures for mutually beneficial logistic support.
