The newly delivered GAVIA autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) systems are part of a multi-year framework agreement between Teledyne Marine and FMV.

Under the agreement, the GAVIA AUVs will support fleet modernization efforts within the Swedish Armed Forces, strengthening underwater surveillance capabilities while improving overall operational efficiency.

The vehicles delivered as part of the framework feature Teledyne’s modular architecture, allowing them to be rapidly reconfigured for a wide range of missions. These include mine countermeasures, hydrographic surveying, intelligence collection, seabed mapping, and surveillance, enabling the systems to adapt quickly to evolving operational requirements.

Commenting on the delivery, Teledyne President and Chief Executive Officer George Bobb highlighted the growing importance of subsea awareness.

He noted that as the maritime battlespace evolves, particularly with increasing risks to critical subsea infrastructure, Teledyne’s autonomous underwater systems offer a low-cost solution capable of long-duration subsea surveillance.

Bobb added that beyond complete air, land, and subsea unmanned systems, Teledyne also provides a broad portfolio of imaging subsystems and software supporting unmanned aerial vehicles, counter-unmanned aircraft systems, and maritime autonomous surface vessels.

GAVIA AUV systems have been purchased by 18 navies. Teledyne unmanned subsea systems are operational with numerous NATO and AUKUS navies.
