VIDEO: Iran says cruise missiles fired at USS Abraham Lincoln

Operations

Iranian authorities announced that cruise missiles were launched from the country’s coast toward the sea, targeting the US Navy’s USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, currently deployed in the Arabian Sea.

According to the Iranian Army’s Public Relations, cruise missiles launched from the coast toward the sea successfully struck the USS Abraham Lincoln. The news was published throughout local media outlets.

Fars News Agency, which published a video of the missiles being launched, reported that Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, commander of the Iranian Navy, who issued the order to fire on the US warship, said the navy would not rest until it avenges the blood of martyrs.

Iranian officials have earlier issued a warning to the US and Israel. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf posted on social media that Iran is “closely monitoring all US movements in the region, especially troop deployments.”

“What the generals have broke, the soldiers can’t fix; instead, they will fall victim to Netanyahu’s delusions,” Ghalibaf highlighted.

There was no immediate confirmation from the US Central Command (CENTCOM), which in the past has used social media to refute Iranian claims regarding strikes on US naval assets.

US President Donald Trump yesterday revealed that American naval forces successfully intercepted large-scale missile attacks launched by Iran targeting the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. According to Trump, Iran fired 101 missiles at the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, but he asserted that “every single one was knocked down on the sea.”

CENTCOM has previously described Iranian reports of successful strikes on the carrier as false, maintaining that the Abraham Lincoln remained fully operational and continued routine flight operations in the Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea.
