French naval architecture firm MAURIC has been selected to provide the design studies for five Riverine Patrol Vessels (RPVs) for the Bangladesh Coast Guard.
MAURIC and Norwegian company NORDIC NAVAL AS have been selected to provide the design package and main equipment for the vessels. The five RPVs will be built in Bangladesh by Dockyard & Engineering Works Limited, with construction scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The vessels will measure 38 meters in length and will be capable of reaching a top speed of 22 knots. They will feature steel hulls and aluminum superstructures and will be equipped with a 30 mm remotely operated gun.
Each vessel will be able to accommodate up to 29 personnel and support missions lasting up to 10 days.
According to MAURIC, the vessels will be used for maritime surveillance, counter-trafficking operations and the protection of Bangladesh's territorial waters.
The design is based on MAURIC's existing range of coastal patrol vessels. The company said the performance of these designs has been validated through operational service.

The project represents another contract for MAURIC in the Asian market, following the company's previous work on patrol vessel designs in the region.
