Their indigenous content has been further strengthened with key components such as gearboxes supplied by Triveni Engineering, Mysore, and water jets from MJP India.

With an approximate displacement of 340 tonnes, these water jet–propelled vessels are designed for coastal security, surveillance, and law enforcement roles.

The construction of FPV-4 and FPV-7 aligns with India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, supporting domestic shipbuilding capabilities.

Once operational, these vessels will contribute to the Indian Coast Guard’s presence and duties in the Indian Ocean Region.

Last week, the Indian Coast Guard took delivery of fast patrol vessel ICGS Achal (Yard 1274) from domestic shipbuilder Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).
