UAE-based defense group EDGE and the Brazilian Navy have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore cooperation on maritime monitoring, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.
The agreement was signed by EDGE Group and the Brazilian Navy through its Naval Aviation Directorate on August 27, 2026, in a move aimed at strengthening Brazil’s maritime domain awareness capabilities.
Under the MoU, the parties will conduct studies, exchange knowledge and assess potential solutions related to maritime surveillance and reconnaissance.
The cooperation will also cover the development of operational concepts and the identification of technical, logistical and training requirements.
The agreement provides for the two sides to evaluate the feasibility of future initiatives of interest to the Brazilian Navy and develop human capital focused on monitoring and surveillance of Brazil’s maritime space.
EDGE said the MoU builds on existing defense cooperation between the company and the Brazilian Navy and establishes a framework for potential joint initiatives.
The agreement does not specify particular platforms or systems to be supplied under the arrangement. Instead, it establishes a framework for assessing capabilities and potential future areas of cooperation.
To remind, last year, EDGE Group unveiled multiple agreements and collaborations with the Brazilian Navy, designed to enhance Brazil’s naval capabilities, particularly in the areas of anti-drone systems, missile technology, and strategic defense solutions.
