Danish naval equipment supplier SH Defence and French shipbuilder Naval Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore cooperation on modular capabilities for naval operations.
The agreement establishes a framework for the two companies to explore opportunities in mission modularity, containerized mission solutions, and launch and recovery systems supporting unmanned systems and diving operations.
The cooperation will focus on solutions that allow naval platforms to adapt to changing mission requirements by integrating different capabilities. These include systems for deploying and recovering unmanned platforms, as well as equipment supporting diving operations.
Modular mission systems allow navies to configure vessels for different operational tasks by integrating mission-specific equipment. Containerized solutions can support this approach by allowing capabilities to be installed, removed, or exchanged as requirements change.
The MoU provides a basis for SH Defence and Naval Group to combine their expertise and explore modular solutions for future naval requirements. The companies have not disclosed specific projects, contract values, or delivery timelines.
To remind, Naval Group recently partnered with PhotonFirst to test the use of fibre-optic sensors on the structures of surface vessels and submarines.
