Russian Navy’s CG Continues Training Activities in Mediterranean Sea

Having finished formal call at Syrian port Tartus, ships of Russian Navy’s carrier group continued training activities in the Mediterranean Sea.

Northern Fleet (NF) pilots carried out 13 training flights by Su-33 fighters from the deck of aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov. Aircrews of helicopters performed 3 flights as well.

In total, pilots have done 20 over-deck passages, 16 deck touches, and 13 deck landings. During the drills, pilots practiced aerobatics and air engagement.

Crews of ships held antisubmarine and anti-aircraft drills.

Presently, Admiral Kuznetsov replenishes supplies at sea. After that, ships of the Russian Navy’s interfleet force will continue activities in the Mediterranean Sea.

The cruise started in Severomorsk on Dec 6 with departure of aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, large ASW ship Admiral Chabanenko, and escort ships. So far, ships of the Russian naval task force have covered over 6,000 nautical miles.

Long-range cruise of the carrier group is held under Russian Navy’s overseas presence program.
