Sri Lanka Navy Intercepts 2 Persons Illegally Entering Sri Lankan Waters

 

Naval Personnel attached to the North-western Naval Command intercepted 02 persons attempting to enter Sri Lanka under cover crossing the north-western seas on 21st January 2012.

The duo of Sri Lankan Tamil origin had been trying to creep onto the 08th Sand Bank by swimming from the 09th where they had first landed by means of a hired Indian boat.

Preliminary investigations reveal that one is a 26-year youth resident in Muttur, who had under gone LTTE Sea Tiger training in 2005 and fled to India in 2006. The other aged 44 had been a former fisherman residing in Mannar, who had gone to India in 2007. Both were handed over to Thalaimannar Police for further investigations.
