Russian Defense Minister Visits BSF

 

Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdiukov paid a visit to Black Sea Fleet (BSF).

The minister held a meeting with BSF commanding staff, summarized results of the fleet’s activities in 2011 and determined priorities for near-term prospect, making a point of social problems of BSF servicemen.

Defense minister also visited residential district in Sevastopol and inspected construction works on accommodation for military servicemen. Over 1,200 apartments will be built for BSF mariners till 2013.

Serdiukov controlled reconstruction works at the St. Vladimir Cathedral, a place where tombs of Russian admirals are located. The cathedral’s repair is financed by Russian Defense Ministry.

Anatoly Serdiukov met with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Salamatin. The ministers discussed topical issues of bilateral military cooperation.
