HMS Victorious Crew Donate Money to Charity

Members of the Ship’s Company (Starboard Crew) visited their nominated charity and affiliate Fountains Primary School, to present a £1000 cheque.

The money was raised during the previous patrol after a sponsored 50km rowing race with Lt Stu Moss taking on and defeating the combined efforts of 50 other members of the crew.

The cheque was presented during the musical assembly performed by the pupils. This was followed by a tour of the school.

As part of the Remembrance Weekend the sailors also participated in a wreath-laying ceremony with local Territorial Army and Parachute Regiment units at the Burton War Memorial, following a charity 11-mile hike by local soldiers from the National Arboretum.

To complete the weekend’s commemorations a wreath was laid at the War Memorial during the 11 November ceremony before marching back to the Town Hall and furthering the boat’s affiliation with the Mayor and Mayoress-elect of East Staffordshire Borough Council and the cadets of TS Modwena.

The delegation was well received throughout, enjoying the opportunity to represent the boat and are looking forward to the next opportunity to do it again.

Lt Kim Smith said:

“Everyone showed us the utmost hospitality and kindness. Burton has always proved to be a strong and welcoming affiliation to which we are always eager to return.”
