Commanding Officer of USS Pasadena Relieved of Duty

Rear Adm. Rick Breckenridge, Commander, Submarine Group 2, relieved Cmdr. Luis Molina, commanding officer of USS Pasadena (SSN 752) on Jan. 25 due to loss of confidence in executing his duties as the submarine’s commanding officer.

“I have lost confidence in Cmdr. Molina’s ability to effectively lead USS Pasadena through its maintenance overhaul,” said Breckenridge.

Molina has been reassigned to administrative duties with the Commander, Submarine Group Two’s shipyard representative office, which is located at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, in Kittery.

Cmdr. Mark E. Cooper has assumed all duties as commanding officer. Cooper recently spent one year at the National War College at Fort McNair in Washington D.C., earning a Master of Arts degree in National Security Strategy.
