NAVFAC Awards USD 20.2 Mln Contract for Guam Realignment Work

Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Marianas awarded a $20,249,617 million dollar firm-fixed price task order Aug. 7 to Guam Multiple Award Construction Contracts (MACC) Builders A JV, a large business, for ongoing Guam realignment work.

“With this contract award, the Department of Defense continues its commitment to establish a Marine Corps presence on Guam,” said Joe Ludovici, principal deputy (acting) Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy, Installations and Environment. “This contract award marks a positive step as we continue the preparations to support the Marines in Guam. We are making steady and continued progress, not only because we award this new contract, but because we near the completion of the Apra Wharf improvement and the first increment of the North Ramp Parking project. As the National Environmental Policy Act process comes to a close in 2015, I expect the amount of projects awarded to steadily increase.”

This multiple award construction contract task order will continue development of the North Ramp Parking area (P-101A or second increment) and the North Ramp Utilities infrastructure (P-100 Fuel Distribution System), which will provide a fully functional aircraft rinse facility and associated taxiways to support current and future Marine Corps aviation training in Guam. The North Ramp Utilities fuel distribution work was not previously awarded to ensure proper phasing and sequencing of North Ramp Parking and North Ramp Utilities construction within the same footprint.

In April 2011, a $73 million firm-fixed price task order was awarded to Tutor Perini Corporation of Sylmar, Calif., under the Guam Design-Build MACC for the construction of the aircraft parking apron at Andersen Air Force Base known as the North Ramp Parking Increment 1 project, or P-101. The ongoing work includes the construction of an MV-22 aircraft parking apron, hot mix asphalt apron replacement pavement and wash rack facility.
