UK Ship RFA Lyme Bay Welcomes EU NAVFOR Force Commander on Board

On Tuesday 22 October, EU NAVFOR Force Commander, Commodore Peter Lenselink and members of his staff, visited RFA Lyme Bay. RFA Lyme Bay recently joined EU Naval Force’s Operation Atalanta.

During the visit, the Force Commander visited the different departments on board and met the crew members of the ship. They were given a capability briefing and a tour of the ship.

Speaking about the visit, Commodore Lenselink said “RFA Lyme Bay brings impressive capabilities in theatre. I look forward to close operational cooperation in countering piracy.”

The Commanding Officer of RFA Lyme Bay, Captain Herbert, added: “It was a very successful and productive visit, which emphasized the close co-operation already established between EUNAVFOR and Lyme Bay. It also highlighted the capabilities and flexibility which Lyme Bay brings to Operation Atalanta.” “We are enthusiastic and fully committed to provide the Force Commander with an integrated and capable platform to meet his mission aims.”
